Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to renewed calls by a group urging him to contest the 2027 presidential election, stressing that the decision would not be made lightly.
He described the presidential race as a serious national responsibility, noting that it is “not a computer game,” even as he acknowledged the appeals from his supporters.
Speaking in response to the delegation, Jonathan said: “You ask me to come and contest the next election. The presidential race is not a computer game, but I have heard you, and I will consult widely.”
He further explained that he would engage key political stakeholders, associates, and well-wishers before taking a final position on whether or not to enter the race, adding that due process and broad consultation remain important in matters of national leadership.
The former president’s remarks come amid growing political discussions and endorsements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
