Suspected terrorists have abducted a resident and set ablaze a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) checkpoint, alongside a brothel and a residential building, during a violent attack on Tsamiya community in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when armed attackers reportedly stormed the community, firing sporadically as they moved through the area and torching structures in their path.
Authorities confirmed that the abducted victim, identified as Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare, was taken away during the assault.
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said the attackers also destroyed a makeshift NSCDC outpost and set fire to the home of a resident, Sule Mai Goge.
Following the attack, the Commissioner of Police ordered the deployment of additional tactical teams to the area to reinforce security and support rescue operations. Security forces have since launched efforts aimed at locating and freeing the abducted resident, while also tracking down those responsible for the attack.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.
The latest assault adds to growing security concerns in parts of northwestern Nigeria, where border communities in Kebbi State have continued to face repeated attacks and kidnappings in recent months. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
