Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) of the federal government’s support in fast-tracking the passage of its amendment bill before the National Assembly. The proposed legislation seeks to change the institute’s name and expand its mandate to align with modern governance practices.
Shettima gave the assurance on Friday while receiving a delegation from ICSAN, led by its 30th President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mrs. Uto Ukpanah, during a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa. He congratulated the institute on its forthcoming 60th anniversary, describing it as a celebration of professionalism and integrity.
The Vice President also pledged support for the institute’s growth and sustainability, including its building project in Lagos. He noted the importance of developing income-generating ventures to strengthen the institute’s operations and advocacy efforts.
Earlier, Ukpanah said ICSAN has spent six decades promoting governance standards in Nigeria’s public and private sectors. She appealed for support toward the passage of the Chartered Governance Institute of Nigeria (CGIN) Bill and informed the Vice President that the institute’s 60th anniversary celebration is scheduled for June 26, 2026.
