The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna to participate in the forthcoming governorship primary election in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The clearance followed the party’s screening exercise for governorship aspirants seeking to contest under the APC platform. Gwamna, who had earlier declared his ambition to succeed Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described his aspiration as a mission to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration while introducing policies aimed at sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Speaking after receiving the clearance, Gwamna expressed appreciation to party leaders and supporters, pledging to promote transparency, unity, economic growth, and youth empowerment if elected governor. He also called on APC members across the state to remain united ahead of the party primaries and the 2027 elections.

The APC in Gombe had earlier endorsed Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate following consultations among party stakeholders led by Governor Inuwa Yahaya. The decision reportedly came after extensive meetings aimed at preserving party unity and avoiding internal disputes ahead of the elections.
