The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting unity and ensuring the peaceful conduct of the ongoing primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Barau spoke on Wednesday after returning to Abuja from Kano, where he emerged as the consensus candidate for the Kano North Senatorial District. He described the development as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to internal democracy and cohesion within the ruling party.

According to him, the consensus arrangement adopted in several states has helped to reduce tensions and minimise internal disputes ahead of the general elections. He noted that the President’s grassroots political experience and leadership style had continued to foster reconciliation and stability within the APC.

Barau also commended APC governors and party stakeholders for supporting efforts aimed at maintaining harmony within the party. He specifically acknowledged the role of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, in promoting understanding among party members nationwide.

The Deputy Senate President expressed optimism that the peaceful conduct of the primaries would strengthen the APC ahead of future elections and improve the party’s electoral chances across the country.
