The Federal Government has commenced the distribution of 1.9 million bags of fertilizer as part of ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen food security across the country.

The initiative is aimed at supporting farmers with critical agricultural inputs, increasing crop yields, and reducing the impact of rising food costs on Nigerians.

Government officials said the fertilizer distribution programme forms part of the broader strategy of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to revitalize the agricultural sector, improve food production, and ensure sustainable access to affordable food nationwide.

The intervention is expected to benefit thousands of farmers across the country, particularly smallholder farmers who play a significant role in Nigeria’s food supply chain.

Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have welcomed the initiative, noting that timely access to fertilizer remains essential for improving farm productivity and achieving national food security goals.

The distribution of the 1.9 million bags of fertilizer underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting farmers, boosting agricultural output, and addressing food security challenges as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
