
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young girls across the country to remain curious, confident and courageous in pursuing careers and innovations in technology.
Speaking at the National Girls in ICT Competition 2026 dinner held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on Friday, the First Lady encouraged the participants to continue learning, creating and using technology to address societal challenges and improve their communities.
She advised the girls not to underestimate the power of their ideas, stressing that their dreams are valid and their potential limitless.
At the competition, the Special Education Centre, Bauchi, emerged overall winner with its project, “Hands That Speak,” an assistive technology solution designed to promote inclusion. Federal Government Girls’ College, Cross River, finished second, while Resonance Science School, Abia, secured third place.
The National Girls in ICT Competition is aimed at promoting digital skills, innovation and technology-driven problem-solving among young girls across Nigeria.
