The Federal Government has intensified cybersecurity measures in preparation for the 2027 general elections, as part of efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and electoral processes from emerging cyber threats.

Officials say the initiative is aimed at strengthening the resilience of government systems, protecting sensitive electoral data, and preventing potential cyber attacks that could disrupt voter registration, transmission of results, and other election-related platforms. The move also includes enhanced collaboration with security agencies, technology experts, and critical stakeholders in the digital space.

Government sources note that the growing sophistication of cyber threats, including misinformation campaigns and attempts to infiltrate digital networks, has made it necessary to upgrade national cyber defence capabilities ahead of the polls.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a secure, transparent, and technology-driven electoral process in 2027.
