The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence of securing a landslide victory in Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, setting a target of winning all 177 wards and securing at least 500,000 votes for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
Party leaders say the ambitious target is based on what they describe as the governor’s performance in office and the level of support the APC enjoys across the state. The Director-General of the Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Organisation, Cyril Fasuyi, said the party’s grassroots mobilisation strategy and statewide campaign have positioned it strongly ahead of the poll.
According to APC officials, the campaign has focused on the administration’s record in infrastructure, education, agriculture, security and economic development, while maintaining an issue-based approach throughout the electioneering period.
The party’s optimism has also been echoed by several APC leaders and allies, who believe Governor Oyebanji is well placed to secure another term in office.
The Ekiti governorship election is being closely watched as one of the major off-cycle elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political observers viewing it as an important test of party strength in the South-West.
