Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for greater support and solidarity for refugees and displaced persons around the world, urging collective action to help those forced to flee their homes due to conflict, violence, and insecurity.
In a message commemorating World Refugee Day 2026, the First Lady said the occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced by millions of displaced people and reaffirm a shared commitment to their welfare and dignity.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “Solidarity with Refugees,” Senator Tinubu said the theme underscores the importance of compassion, unity, and collective responsibility in addressing the plight of vulnerable populations.
She noted that supporting peaceful solutions to conflicts and ensuring access to opportunities and resources for displaced persons are critical steps toward helping them rebuild their lives and regain hope for the future.
The First Lady reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, particularly women and children affected by displacement, stressing the need for sustained efforts to protect and empower those impacted by humanitarian crises.
She also extended her goodwill to refugees and displaced persons across the world, expressing hope for a future marked by peace, security, and renewed opportunities.
