
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Dayo Faduyile of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election.
According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Gbenga Solomon-Ibileye, Faduyile polled 68,474 votes to emerge senator-elect for the district.
His closest challenger, Adeolu Akinwunmi of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), secured 1,411 votes, while candidates of the Action People’s Party (APP) and the Boot Party received 213 and 70 votes, respectively.
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant Senate seat following the appointment of former senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Faduyile, a professor of pathology and former president of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), previously served as a health adviser to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
