Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim unharmed during a security operation aimed at dismantling a kidnapping syndicate operating within the state.

According to the police, the victim was abducted on June 11 at Ogbe Village in Ogun State, prompting an intensive intelligence-led investigation by the command. Security operatives subsequently launched a coordinated operation to track down the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.

The police said sustained pressure mounted on the criminal gang led to the safe release of the victim on June 18 without injury. Further investigations later led officers to the gang’s hideout, where the suspects allegedly opened fire on the approaching security team.

A gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of two suspected kidnappers, while other members of the gang reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

During the operation, security personnel recovered a single-barrel firearm, an expended cartridge, a mobile phone, and ₦2.2 million suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities.

Police authorities described the operation as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in Ogun State. The command reiterated its commitment to pursuing criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.

The Ogun State Police Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in combating crime. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
