Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over recent diplomatic envoy appointments, describing them as strategic steps that could strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations, particularly with the United States and the United Nations.

The groups said the appointments reflect a deliberate effort by the administration to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy and enhance its global engagement.

According to the CSOs, the selection of experienced professionals for key diplomatic roles will help improve Nigeria’s image abroad, deepen international partnerships and attract stronger cooperation in areas such as security, trade, investment and multilateral diplomacy.

They expressed optimism that the new envoys would play a critical role in advancing Nigeria’s interests at both bilateral and multilateral levels, especially in addressing global challenges that require stronger international collaboration.

The organisations further urged the appointees to prioritise professionalism, national interest and proactive engagement in their diplomatic assignments.

They also noted that effective representation in key global capitals and institutions such as Washington and the United Nations would contribute significantly to Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and international standing.
