Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised two suspected Lakurawa terrorists during a successful military operation in the Sabarumawa axis of Kebbi State.

The operation was launched following credible intelligence indicating that the suspects were planning an attack on the Sabarumawa community. Acting swiftly on the information, troops from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 laid a tactical ambush along the route the suspected terrorists were expected to use.

According to the military spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops engaged the suspects in a gun battle upon contact, killing two of them, while several others fled into the surrounding forest with suspected gunshot wounds.

A search of the area led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 143 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.

The military said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks operating across the North-West. It also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support security agencies in safeguarding lives and property. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
