The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has called for a 72-hour spiritual exercise aimed at confronting kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes across the seven local government areas that make up the Benin Kingdom.
The directive was issued during a meeting with traditional religious leaders at the Benin Royal Palace, where the monarch urged diviners, priests, priestesses, and custodians of traditional shrines to begin coordinated spiritual rites that will culminate on Wednesday.
According to the Oba, the exercise is intended to invoke spiritual sanctions against individuals involved in kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery, and other criminal activities that have threatened the safety and security of communities within the kingdom.
He said the initiative is designed to complement the efforts of security agencies by seeking divine intervention to curb the growing wave of violent crime and restore peace across the kingdom.
The Oba emphasized the need for unity among traditional institutions in confronting insecurity, noting that every lawful and peaceful means should be deployed to protect lives and property.
The 72-hour spiritual exercise is expected to conclude on Wednesday with coordinated traditional rites across shrines in the Benin Kingdom, as residents hope for lasting peace and improved security. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
