A coordinated security operation by the Imo State Police Command has led to the rescue of a kidnap victim from a suspected criminal hideout in Owerri West Local Government Area.
The victim, identified as Chinonaobi Uchegbulam of Ubaha Orodo, was found with injuries during a raid on forest camps in the Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala axis. He was immediately taken to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The operation was carried out by police operatives alongside local vigilante groups as part of efforts to dismantle kidnapping and other criminal networks operating in the area. According to the command, the raid was intelligence-driven and targeted locations believed to be used as hideouts by criminal gangs.
Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said the operation was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-East, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to intensify security operations and deny criminals safe havens across the region.
Commending the officers for the successful operation, Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain aggressive operations against criminal elements. He also appealed to residents to support security agencies with credible and timely information that could aid efforts to combat crime in the state.
The police assured the public that operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals will continue as part of measures to improve security across Imo State. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
