President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday held a strategic security meeting with Nigeria’s top defence and intelligence chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, to review the country’s security situation and ongoing operations against criminal elements.

The closed-door meeting was attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Defence; the Chief of Defence Staff; the Chief of Army Staff; the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunde Disu; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS); the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA); and other senior security officials.

Discussions focused on assessing the nation’s security challenges, reviewing ongoing military operations, and strengthening strategies to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other threats to national security.

The meeting comes amid renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, even as security agencies continue sustained operations against terrorists and other criminal groups.
