Two farmers have been killed and another injured following an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists on Baidi village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attack occurred on Thursday at about 10:00 a.m. while the victims were working on their farms. Residents said the gunmen opened fire on the farmers, killing one at the scene and injuring another, who was taken to Tangaza General Hospital for treatment.
The body of another farmer was later discovered in the area, bringing the death toll to two.
Residents alleged that the terrorists had repeatedly warned farmers against returning to their farmlands. They also recalled a similar attack on Madarare village in Raka Ward last week, during which two people were shot.
As of the time of filing this report, the Sokoto State Police Command had not officially confirmed the incident. Efforts to reach the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, for comments were unsuccessful. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
