The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
The commission announced the extension in a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.
According to INEC, the decision followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to upload the names and personal particulars of their candidates within the initial deadline.
The commission said the extension reflects its commitment to ensuring an inclusive electoral process while operating within the provisions of the law.
INEC urged all political parties yet to complete the submission process to take advantage of the additional three-day window and ensure that all required details are uploaded before the new deadline expires.
The commission also reiterated its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent and inclusive electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
