President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, is facing renewed public scrutiny following allegations made against him by Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the man accused of operating the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Adeyemi, who is facing criminal charges including forgery, impersonation and conspiracy, has alleged that Gbajabiamila was linked to the activities of the controversial body.

The Presidency has strongly denied the allegations, describing them as false and maintaining that Gbajabiamila had no involvement in the operations of the alleged fake agency.

Presidential officials said the Chief of Staff was among those who reported the matter to security agencies after concerns emerged over the use of forged official documents and the impersonation of government institutions.

President Tinubu has since directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the PFIPC and identify all those involved in the alleged fraud.

The controversy has continued to generate public and political debate as investigations and court proceedings involving Adeyemi progress.
