The Kano State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat crime and strengthen public safety across the state, recovering a locally fabricated pistol, a suspected stolen vehicle, and intercepting 123 vehicles found with concealed, defaced, or missing registration number plates during a coordinated security operation.

The operation, which was carried out at strategic locations across Kano State, forms part of the Command’s sustained campaign against criminal activities and its drive to ensure strict compliance with traffic and vehicle registration regulations.

Police authorities said the exercise was designed to identify suspicious movements, deter criminal activities, and improve the overall security environment in the state.

According to the Command, the operation also led to the arrest of several suspects believed to be connected with different criminal offences. Although police did not disclose the identities of the suspects or the specific offences for which they were arrested, they confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding each case.

In addition to the arrests, officers recovered a number of exhibits during the operation. These include a locally fabricated pistol, a suspected stolen vehicle, suspected cannabis, a knife, and lithium batteries. The Command said the recovered items are being examined as part of ongoing investigations to determine their origin and any possible connection to criminal activities.

The interception of 123 vehicles with concealed, defaced, or missing number plates was described as a significant aspect of the operation. Police noted that improperly registered or unidentified vehicles can pose security risks by making it difficult to trace vehicles used in criminal activities. The Command stressed that motorists are expected to comply with existing laws governing vehicle registration and display of number plates.

Police authorities stated that the operation reflects the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention. They explained that routine patrols, stop-and-search operations, and targeted enforcement exercises remain important tools in identifying security threats and preventing criminal acts before they occur.

The Command further disclosed that investigations into all recovered exhibits and arrested suspects are continuing. It assured residents that anyone found culpable after the completion of investigations will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain security operations across Kano State, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority. He said officers and personnel of the Command would continue to intensify efforts aimed at tackling crime and maintaining law and order throughout the state.

He also appealed to members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending offenders. According to the Commissioner, cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies remains essential to achieving lasting peace and security.

The Kano State Police Command reiterated its commitment to carrying out lawful operations that enhance public safety while encouraging motorists and other residents to comply with relevant laws and remain vigilant. The Command assured the public that similar security operations will continue as part of its broader strategy to ensure a safer and more secure Kano State. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
