A court has struck out a suit filed by former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, challenging the candidacy of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The case sought to contest Atiku’s eligibility and candidacy, but the court dismissed the matter, effectively bringing the legal challenge to an end.

In its ruling, the court held that the suit lacked merit and consequently struck it out in accordance with the law.

The judgment clears the legal hurdle raised by the action and allows Atiku’s political aspirations for the 2027 elections to proceed without the challenge presented in the case.

The ruling adds to the series of legal developments expected to shape Nigeria’s political landscape as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
