Alake, NIMC DG Explore Digital Identity to Drive Mining Sector Reforms

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has met with the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, to explore the use of digital identity in advancing reforms within Nigeria’s mining sector.

The meeting focused on leveraging the National Identity Management System to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in the administration of mining activities across the country.

Both officials discussed the integration of digital identity solutions into the mining sector to strengthen regulatory oversight, streamline licensing processes and enhance the identification and verification of operators.

The initiative is expected to support the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to modernise the solid minerals sector, improve governance and promote a more secure, technology-driven mining ecosystem.

The engagement underscores the government’s commitment to deploying digital innovation to drive reforms, attract investment and enhance service delivery across key sectors of the economy.
