Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed confidence that his administration’s achievements over the past five years will ensure a decisive victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming local government elections. According to the governor, opposition parties are struggling for relevance and remain “unpopular and invisible” as the November 16 polls approach.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Abiodun highlighted the quality of the APC’s candidates and credited his administration’s development-focused initiatives for creating a conducive environment for the local elections.
“With the quality of candidates our party is presenting in the forthcoming local government election in the State, APC remains the party to beat,” Abiodun said. “We have made remarkable impacts in the life of our people, and this is our key selling point.”
Abiodun pointed to various projects, creative ideas, and prudent governance as the reason behind the APC’s current advantage. He emphasized that rather than using intimidation to overshadow opposition parties, his administration has simply outpaced them through visible progress, making APC the dominant political force across the state.
The governor urged APC members across Ogun’s 20 local government areas to work in unity to build on the achievements of the past five years and secure a landslide victory in the elections. He called for continued commitment and collaboration to ensure that the APC sustains its influence in local governance.
“Every APC member across the 20 Local Government Areas must show more commitment and work in unison for the victory of our party come November 16,” he added.
Governor Abiodun reiterated that his administration’s focus on sustainable development has set the APC apart, helping to transform Ogun State’s political environment into one where opposition parties have the freedom to operate without harassment but lack the popularity to mount a significant challenge.
The November 16 local government elections will serve as a test of the APC’s grip on power in Ogun State and a measure of public support for Abiodun’s administration and its development agenda.
