Queen Camilla, wife of Britain’s head of state King Charles III, will return to public duties on Tuesday with a modified schedule after stepping back from events last week due to a chest infection, according to a royal source.

The 77-year-old Queen is set to attend the Booker Prize reception later on Tuesday, where she will meet the finalists of the prestigious literary award. However, her attendance will be shorter than originally planned.

This will mark her first public engagement since returning from a trip to Australia and Samoa, where she accompanied King Charles to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting before falling ill.

Camilla is also expected to attend an event on Wednesday celebrating the film and television industry, though she is likely to leave before the event concludes. She will not be attending the global premiere of Gladiator II at London’s Leicester Square that evening, where she had been scheduled to meet director Ridley Scott and stars such as Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington. King Charles, who will turn 76 on Thursday, is still expected to attend the premiere.

The Queen missed Remembrance Day events over the weekend due to her illness, including a commemorative concert at the Royal Albert Hall and the ceremony at the Cenotaph war memorial. However, Catherine, Princess of Wales, participated in the commemorations alongside her husband, Prince William, the heir to the throne, marking a significant moment in her own recovery from cancer.

King Charles is also continuing his treatment for cancer, a diagnosis revealed by Buckingham Palace in February.
