The Defence Headquarters has announced that Simon Ekpa, a prominent figure linked to separatist activities, will be extradited to Nigeria to face charges related to his involvement in unlawful activities.

In a statement released today, the Defence Headquarters confirmed that the Nigerian government had secured the necessary legal framework to bring Ekpa back to Nigeria. Ekpa, who has been a vocal proponent of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is facing a series of charges that include incitement to violence and terrorism.

The decision to extradite Ekpa follows months of legal and diplomatic negotiations, with Nigerian authorities emphasizing their commitment to holding individuals accountable for actions that threaten national security and peace.

“The extradition of Simon Ekpa is a significant step towards ensuring justice and reinforcing the rule of law,” said a spokesperson from the Defence Headquarters. “This action reflects our unwavering commitment to tackling terrorism and maintaining the unity of Nigeria.”

Ekpa, who was apprehended abroad, is expected to face trial in Nigeria, where his case will be closely monitored by both local and international observers. The Nigerian government has vowed to ensure a fair and transparent legal process for the accused.

This development marks a critical moment in the government’s ongoing efforts to address security concerns linked to separatist movements and promote national stability.
