
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined some of Nigeria’s biggest entertainers, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Seyi Vibez, to usher in the New Year at the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 event.

The governor was seen in photos enjoying the vibrant festivities, which brought thousands of Lagos residents together across five major locations in the state: Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe. The main stage was set at Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island, where the atmosphere was described as electric.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu expressed his gratitude to the artists and residents who made the event unforgettable.
“A heartfelt thank you to the incredible artists who honoured Lagos’ call to perform and made the night unforgettable—Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, and many more. Your talent and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to every corner of Lagos. Last night, Lagos came alive in a way that only Lagos can!” he said.
The governor commended the unity and energy displayed by Lagos residents, emphasizing that the event showcased the true Lagos spirit.

“Thank you for showing the world the true Lagos spirit. It was a celebration like no other. Lagos is home. Together, we ushered in 2025 with unmatched energy and pride,” he added.
The #GreaterLagosCountdown2025 highlighted the state’s cultural vibrancy and reaffirmed its position as Nigeria’s entertainment capital. With thousands of attendees enjoying fireworks, music, and performances, the event set a high bar for celebrations in the year ahead.
