Former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed speculations linking him to a possible vice-presidential ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview, Amaechi stated that he purchased the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination form to contest for president, not to become anyone’s running mate.

“I did not buy form to be vice president,” Amaechi said while reacting to reports suggesting he could emerge as Atiku’s running mate.

The former minister also maintained that if the ADC decides to adopt a consensus candidate, the process must involve consultations and agreement among all aspirants. According to him, where consensus fails, the party should proceed with transparent primaries.

Amaechi’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and discussions within the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
