Nigerian socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that his decision to shift political support from Labour Party’s Peter Obi to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was driven by what he described as a need to avoid “losing again” in politics.
According to his recent comments, Cubana Chief Priest admitted that he previously backed Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections but later reconsidered his political alignment after the outcome of the election. He stated that his current support for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) is based on a strategic decision rather than sentiment.
He further explained that political participation requires aligning with what he believes is a winning structure, stressing that he no longer wants to be on the losing side of political contests.
The socialite has recently been more vocal in his support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, publicly endorsing the administration and calling for continued backing for the APC.
His political shift has sparked reactions online, with supporters and critics debating his change of stance from Obi’s Labour Party to the ruling APC.
Cubana Chief Priest had previously been associated with Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign before later declaring support for Tinubu and the APC.
