Political leaders from Enugu State on Tuesday pledged unalloyed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The endorsement was made when Governor Peter Mbah led a high-level delegation of Enugu leaders to a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, representing the state’s estimated seven million citizens.
The delegation included the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, former Governors Sullivan Chime and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and former Governor of old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo. Others present included members of the National Assembly, former ministers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, academics, and spouses of some delegates.
President Tinubu, in his remarks, expressed appreciation for the visit and support, saying the positive outcomes of his administration’s reforms were evident in infrastructural growth and improved governance across states. He commended governors for the prudent use of federal allocations, noting that this had resulted in improved healthcare, education, infrastructure, and welfare delivery.
The President said the growing political realignment in support of the ruling APC was a reflection of the impact of ongoing economic reforms, adding that Governor Mbah’s alignment with the party was informed by sustained federal support to Enugu State. He described the governor as a transformative leader and praised the developmental strides recorded in the state.
Tinubu also assured the delegation of continued collaboration on key national infrastructure projects, including rail, power, and other development initiatives. He urged political leaders to remain focused, stating that his administration remained committed to building a nation of hope and prosperity despite criticism.
He further commended Governor Mbah for efforts in addressing insecurity and improving critical sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure in Enugu State.
In his remarks, Governor Mbah said the delegation visited to express appreciation and solidarity with the President’s development agenda. He noted that the visit reflected the trust and confidence of the people of Enugu State, affirming that the state would stand firmly with President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Former Senate President Ken Nnamani also commended the President for his support to Enugu State and the South East, particularly in infrastructure development. He said the leaders had come to express gratitude and reaffirmed Enugu State’s support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
