


Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has expressed confidence that the country will overcome its security challenges through the continued efforts of the Federal Government, security agencies, and international partners.
Speaking during her first official state visit to Ekiti State, where she met with the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti, Mrs Tinubu said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to addressing insecurity across the country.
She described the security situation as troubling but assured Nigerians that several countries, including the United States and France, are supporting Nigeria’s efforts to tackle the challenge. According to her, Nigeria remains a blessed nation that is too great to be intimidated by its current difficulties.
The First Lady urged Nigerians, particularly women, to remain prayerful and hopeful, expressing confidence that the country’s challenges would soon come to an end.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council and Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, commended President Tinubu for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. He also called for stronger action against insecurity, citing incidents of kidnapping in Ekiti and other parts of the country.
As part of her visit, Mrs Tinubu presented a Business Recapitalisation Grant of ₦100 million to 2,000 women petty traders in the state, with each beneficiary receiving ₦50,000. She said the grant was designed to support women in sustaining their businesses, supporting their families, and contributing to economic growth.
The First Lady, accompanied by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, APC National Women Leader Dr Mary Alile Idele, and Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also canvassed support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
She highlighted several interventions carried out under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), including annual scholarships and laptops for students across the federation, the donation of 10,000 exercise books to public schools in Ekiti State, bursaries and scholarships for tertiary students, the establishment of environmental clubs, and the distribution of 10,000 packs of sanitary pads to schoolgirls.
Mrs Tinubu also announced cash rewards totalling ₦200 million for the best graduating male and female students of Ekiti State University during the commissioning of the TETFund-sponsored ICT Experience Centre in the state.
