Tinubu Hails Nigeria-U.S. Joint Operation Against Islamic State Terrorists

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the successful elimination of a senior Islamic State commander, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, during a joint counterterrorism operation carried out by Nigerian and United States forces in the Lake Chad Basin.

According to the President, the operation was conducted overnight through coordinated efforts between the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the United States, targeting the terrorist leader’s compound and several of his associates.

Tinubu described the mission as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism, noting that early assessments confirmed the killing of Abu-Mainok alongside several of his lieutenants.

The President commended the collaboration between both countries, describing it as a significant example of effective international cooperation in advancing shared security objectives.

He also expressed appreciation to President Donald Trump for what he called his leadership and continued support in the fight against terrorism.

Tinubu further praised the personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism and bravery, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to intensifying military operations against terrorist enclaves across the country.
