President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the nomination of Dr. Zainab Marwa to the Senate for confirmation as a member of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), representing the North-East geopolitical zone.

The nomination was contained in a letter read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, where the President urged lawmakers to confirm her appointment in line with the provisions of the NDDC Establishment Act.

According to the letter, Dr. Marwa was nominated to fill the vacancy created following the resignation of the former North-East representative, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, who left the board in March 2026 to pursue a governorship ambition in Adamawa State.

The Senate subsequently referred the nomination to its Committee on NDDC for screening and further legislative consideration, with a report expected within one to two weeks.

The Niger Delta Development Commission is a federal agency responsible for driving development and infrastructure projects across the Niger Delta region.
