President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the completed Institute of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna after the late military officer and pro-democracy advocate, General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.
The announcement was made on Friday during the President’s 2026 Democracy Day national address to mark Nigeria’s continued democratic journey.
President Tinubu said the decision was taken in recognition of Yar’Adua’s enduring contributions to national unity, democratic development, and the evolution of Nigeria’s modern political structure.
He described the late military officer as one of the key architects of Nigeria’s democratic progress, noting that his sacrifices and leadership continue to inspire successive generations.
According to the President, honouring Yar’Adua in this manner reflects the nation’s commitment to preserving the legacy of those who played significant roles in strengthening democratic governance and national cohesion.
