Seven aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kano Central Senatorial District have reportedly withdrawn from the 2027 race and endorsed former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, as the party’s consensus candidate.

The decision followed consultations among the aspirants, who agreed to step down in the interest of party unity and stronger electoral positioning ahead of the general elections.

Party sources say the move is aimed at consolidating support within the APC in Kano Central and boosting the party’s chances in the 2027 polls.

Shekarau, a former governor of Kano State, is expected to benefit from the endorsement as the party finalises its consensus arrangements for the senatorial ticket.
