Napoli have included Victor Osimhen in their pre-season squad set to resume training on July 14, despite widespread reports that the Nigerian striker is close to leaving the club, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 26-year-old is expected to reunite with his teammates for medical tests between July 14 and 15 before heading to the training camp in Dimaro, Trentino Alto Adige, from July 17 to 27. The club will continue its pre-season in Castel Di Sangro between July 30 and August 14.
Osimhen, who has returned from a sensational loan spell at Galatasaray — where he scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 appearances — helped the Turkish giants secure a domestic double, lifting both the Super Lig and Turkish Cup.
Despite ongoing transfer rumours, including interest from Premier League sides Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool, as well as a previously rejected €40 million-per-year offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, Osimhen’s immediate future remains unresolved.
Football Italia reports that Napoli will formally notify Osimhen of his obligation to report for pre-season, though it’s unclear whether he will train fully with the squad or be placed on a separate regime while negotiations continue.
Osimhen’s current contract runs until June 2026, with Napoli holding an option to extend until 2027. His €75 million release clause does not apply to Serie A clubs, effectively ruling out a cheaper move to domestic rivals like Juventus.
As the clock ticks toward mid-July, Osimhen’s presence at Napoli’s training ground could either mark a farewell tour — or the beginning of another chapter in his career in Naples.
