Former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has spoken candidly about the challenges he faced during his 18-month suspension from football, revealing how the ban led to a period of deep isolation and personal reflection.

Pogba, 32, received the suspension following a doping violation while at Juventus, a development that led the Italian club to terminate his contract. Left without a team and sidelined from the sport, the French star described the experience as one of the most difficult periods of his life.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Pogba shared how many people distanced themselves from him, both socially and professionally.

“My phone stopped ringing like it used to. People stopped inviting me to events,” he said. “My wife was the one who kept me going. She supported me through it all, even as we continued parenting our children.”

Pogba, who played a key role in France’s 2018 World Cup triumph, is set to make his return to professional football in the 2025/26 season after signing with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco earlier this week.
