French University Cancels Gaza Student’s Admission Over Alleged Antisemitic Posts

A leading French university, Sciences Po Lille, has cancelled the admission of a student from Gaza after authorities flagged her social media posts as “hateful,” with content allegedly promoting antisemitic rhetoric. The decision, announced on Wednesday, followed consultations with the French education ministry and local authorities. Although officials did not disclose specific posts, circulating screenshots suggested the student had shared messages inciting violence against Jewish people.

The student had been accepted to the university based on a recommendation from the French consulate in Jerusalem and was temporarily housed by the university’s director while awaiting accommodation. Sciences Po Lille stated that some of the posts contradicted its core values, which include opposition to all forms of racism, antisemitism, and hate speech. The woman’s online accounts have since been taken down, and university officials said the incident required urgent review of diplomatic and administrative vetting processes.
