The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman over his recent declaration that there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock” come 2027, describing the statement as presumptuous and deeply disrespectful to the Nigerian people. In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said millions of Nigerians are reeling under the weight of hunger, insecurity, joblessness, and failed promises—and are eager to reclaim their future at the ballot box.
According to the ADC, the very essence of democracy is the periodic renewal of mandates through free and fair elections. “President Tinubu must re-apply to Nigerians,” the statement read, “and justify why he deserves to continue despite the ruinous policies that have worsened life for the majority.” The party added that in 2027, the President and his party would be judged by their performance in areas such as youth employment, security, poverty, electricity, and equitable justice—not media propaganda or self-praise.
The ADC further warned that the APC’s triumphalist tone mocks the struggles of ordinary Nigerians. “To declare ‘no vacancy’ is to spit in the face of millions who still believe in democracy,” the statement noted. “It is an insult to parents who can’t afford food, graduates without jobs, and entrepreneurs crushed by economic hardship. In 2027, the APC will have to reapply for the job—and this time, Nigerians will be the ones to mark the script.”
