Tension Rises as Davido Unfollows Iyabo Ojo Over Mohbad Controversy

Popular Nigerian singer, Davido, has unfollowed Nollywood actress and activist, Iyabo Ojo, on Instagram following a leaked WhatsApp conversation where she accused the artist of chasing clout with the late singer Mohbad’s case. The message was made public by controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan, who claimed the actress questioned Davido’s sincerity in supporting the #JusticeForMohbad movement.

In the chat, Iyabo Ojo reportedly criticized Davido for continuing to follow Naira Marley on Instagram despite claiming to stand with Mohbad. She described Davido’s involvement in the protests as “fake love,” saying, “He flew down like he claimed to fight for justice, but he still dey follow Naira Marley. That means he was chasing clout… I’m so disappointed.” Her comments appear to have triggered Davido’s decision to unfollow her on the platform, though a check shows Iyabo Ojo is still following the singer.

The controversy adds another layer to the lingering tensions surrounding Mohbad’s death in 2023, which sparked widespread protests and calls for justice. Iyabo Ojo had been a vocal advocate in the campaign, even forming a WhatsApp group for the movement. However, in a more recent interview, she expressed regret over pushing for the exhumation of the singer’s body—further complicating public perceptions of her role in the movement.
