
Ghana is in mourning following the tragic death of eight individuals, including two prominent government ministers, in a devastating military helicopter crash. The crash, which occurred during an official mission, has claimed the lives of key national figures, sending shockwaves across the country.
Among the victims were Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment. Also killed were Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC; and Mr. Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East. Military personnel who also lost their lives include Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.
The Ghanaian government has yet to release full details on the cause of the crash, but investigations are underway. Tributes have begun pouring in from across the nation, with political leaders, civil society, and citizens expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss. A national day of mourning is expected to be declared in honour of the deceased, who were all said to be on active duty serving the nation at the time of their deaths.
