The Federal Government has restated its commitment to fast-tracking development in Ebonyi State and the wider South East, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prioritising infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic growth in the region under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking while delivering the President’s goodwill message to Governor Francis Nwifuru, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, highlighted key interventions, including the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has disbursed ₦86 billion to over 400,000 students nationwide, with Ebonyi youths among the beneficiaries. He also cited the ₦200 billion MSME support fund that is reviving small businesses, alongside reforms like subsidy removal and forex unification aimed at freeing resources for critical projects.
Idris further pointed to federal infrastructure investments in Ebonyi, notably the ongoing Enugu–Abakaliki road, which is enhancing connectivity and trade. Commending Governor Nwifuru for complementing these efforts through agriculture, cement production, and youth enterprise, the Minister described them as crucial steps towards achieving President Tinubu’s $1 trillion economy target.
