
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the Abuja–Kaduna train derailment which occurred on Monday, assuring that government will take swift measures to support victims and prevent future occurrences.
In a statement issued from Brazil, where the President is on an official visit, Tinubu said he had received reports of the incident and was “deeply saddened” by the distress caused to passengers. He offered prayers for the injured and solidarity with their families, describing the experience as unfortunate and painful.
The President disclosed that he is being kept abreast of developments and is awaiting a full briefing from relevant authorities. He added that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has already moved to address the situation.
Tinubu emphasized that necessary steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence, noting that passenger safety remains a top priority of his administration.
