The Qatar Ministry of Interior has introduced stricter visa regulations for Nigerian travellers, citing rising cases of overstays. The new rules, which take immediate effect, apply to both tourist and transit visas and extend to all pending applications.
Under the updated policy, applicants must provide proof of a confirmed return transfer booked alongside hotel reservations before their visas can be processed. Eligibility has also been restricted—only women and families are permitted to apply, while male travellers are barred unless accompanied by family members.
In addition, only five-star hotel bookings will now be accepted as part of visa qualification requirements. The new measures are expected to significantly impact travel plans for Nigerians seeking entry into Qatar in the coming months.
