Abuja, Nigeria – September 10, 2025
The Nigeria Customs Service has provided an update to the public on the progress of its ongoing recruitment exercise, which began with an official advertisement in national newspapers on Friday, December 27, 2024. The exercise aims to strengthen manpower capacity and enhance service delivery across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres, with a total of 3,927 vacancies declared.
According to the Service, a total of 573,523 applications were received during the first phase. After rigorous documentary screening, 286,697 candidates have been invited to proceed to the next stage. The second phase, scheduled from September 14 to 21, 2025, will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test, reflecting the Service’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and fairness in selection.
Candidates shortlisted for the CBT are required to undertake the test at any location with reliable internet access, using a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display, as mobile phones are not supported. Facial verification will be conducted during login, and candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to ensure successful recognition. The system is sensitive to noise and body movement, and candidates must remain fully focused, avoiding background distractions or switching between windows, as such actions may result in automatic logout or disqualification.
To assist applicants, the Service has organised a mandatory pre-test session two days before the actual CBT to familiarise candidates with the application. Separate links will be provided for the pre-test and the main examination. Candidates applying for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also undergo an additional CBT in the next phase, while this does not apply to the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.
The Nigeria Customs Service emphasised that the recruitment process remains strictly merit-driven and transparent. Successful candidates will be informed of subsequent phases through official communication channels. Applicants are urged to follow the official guidelines and rely only on verified NCS platforms for updates, as the Service does not charge fees or conduct recruitment via social media.
