The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has asked the court to order his transfer from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to the National Hospital in Abuja for urgent medical treatment.
Kanu’s legal team argued that his health condition requires specialized medical attention that cannot be adequately provided within DSS facilities. They stressed that immediate intervention is necessary to safeguard his fundamental right to life and health.
The application comes amid ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Kanu’s trial, with his detention by the DSS continuing to generate widespread debate and calls for improved medical access. The court is expected to rule on the request in the coming days.
