Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated a newly built 48-classroom Integrated High Islamic College in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area. The school is designed to provide Almajirai with a comprehensive second chance at accessing a balanced education.
The college will combine Islamic and Western education, equipping students with both religious knowledge and modern academic skills. According to the governor, the initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to reform the Almajiri system and ensure inclusivity in education across the state.
Governor Zulum noted that education remains central to the state’s post-insurgency recovery plan, stressing that the new college will help reduce illiteracy, improve social integration, and provide young people with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society.
Community leaders and education stakeholders in Baga commended the project, describing it as a timely intervention that will improve the future of children who had previously been excluded from formal education.
