OPay Partners With University of Nigeria Nsukka In A ₦1.2bn Scholarship Programme

The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding With one of the biggest leading financial technology company, Opay. This will make the school the 19th inheritor of its ₦1.2 billion 10-Year Scholarship Programme.

This signing of MOU was held on Wednesday at Nsukka to emphasize OPay’s dedication to educational support, financial inclusion, and corporate social responsibility. The programme, launched to support indigent students across 20 tertiary institutions in Nigeria, provides 20 beneficiaries in each institution with ₦300,000 per academic session for the duration of their studies, up to 10 years.

With this collaboration, OPay cemented its commitment to building a brighter future for Nigerian students and contributing to the nation’s socio-economic growth through inclusive, education-focused initiatives

During the event, Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, who is the the Vice Chancellor of UNN expressed appreciation for the initiative and commended OPay’s contribution to educational growth in Nigeria.

He stated that “This scholarship project is not only good news for UNN but for Nigeria as a whole. It is a laudable step—one that truly deserves admiration,”
