Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as “courageous and necessary” for Nigeria’s stability and growth.
Falae, who also holds the traditional title of Olu of Ilu-Abo in Ondo State, made the remarks during a visit by the Arewa Think Tank delegation to the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure. He highlighted two key reforms: the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange rate.
Noting that previous administrations had avoided these measures due to potential political backlash, Falae emphasized that President Tinubu’s decisive actions were essential despite initial hardships, such as the increase in petrol prices from ₦800 to ₦1,200.
He also observed improvements in the agricultural sector, citing a drop in the cost of a truckload of cassava tubers from ₦450,000 to ₦150,000 and a reduction in the price of garri from ₦1,500 to ₦700, signaling early signs of economic recovery.
Falae’s endorsement aligns with the Arewa Think Tank’s continued support for President Tinubu’s leadership and their pledge to collaborate for national progress, including backing his potential re-election bid in 2027.
