Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has called on Nigeria’s security agencies to launch similar rescue operations in Borno State following the successful rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

The Borno South lawmaker said the Oyo operation proves that victims can be rescued through intelligence-driven security operations, urging the military to extend the same commitment to communities in Borno still battling kidnappings.

Ndume revealed that no fewer than 79 people remain in captivity across his senatorial district. According to him, 42 residents of Mussa are still being held by kidnappers, while 37 others abducted from Lassa, including students preparing for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination, are yet to regain their freedom.

He added that several residents abducted from Moushi and travellers kidnapped along the Buratai axis also remain in captivity, calling for urgent action to secure their release.

The senator commended the Armed Forces and other security agencies for the successful Oyo operation, saying it demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated security efforts. He also praised security operatives for neutralising suspected kidnappers and arresting others during the operation.

Ndume urged the Federal Government to continue equipping security agencies with modern equipment, improved intelligence and adequate logistical support to strengthen ongoing efforts against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
